The Kiwanis Club of Sherman, Texas
Chartered by Kiwanis International
Kiwanis International accomplishes its mission through 8,000 local clubs, such as ours. These are in 96 countries around the world. There are 260,000 adult members and 320,000 youth. Each year clubs sponsor nearly 150,000 service projects, raise more than $107 million, and contribute 6.2 million hours of volunteer service in their communities. In fact, internationally, Kiwanis logs more service hours than the next four service organizations combined! The Kiwanis International motto is, "Serving the Children of the World." Sherman Kiwanians appreciate being given the opportunity to represent Kiwanis International here in our community.

WHAT WE SUPPORT IN SHERMAN
MEETING INFORMATION
The Kiwanis Club of Sherman meets Thursdays from Noon until 1:00 P.M. in the second floor banquet room of Kelly's Restaurant at Kelly's Square, 115 S. Travis Street, Sherman (on the Courthouse Square).
Lunch Procedures: Members who are going to enjoy lunch at the weekly meetings make their selections from the buffet line in the restaurant. The waitress inside the banquet room provides the sales ticket. Please present your payment and ticket to the Kiwanis administrative assistant prior to the end of the meeting.
Guests: All members are encouraged to invite guests to the weekly meetings. The member pays for the guest's meal. If the guest turns in a membership application, the club will pay for her/his meals until s/he is inducted as a member.
Secret Handshake: All members are encouraged to shake hands with each other and with the guests as they enter the room. A dollar coin will secretly be given to a member upon entering the meeting. The member who has the coin will secretly choose which number person shaking her/his hand that s/he will give the coin to at the end of the meeting (for example, the first person who shakes her/his hand, or the fifth person, etc.). The coin is held until the end of the meeting when the member holding it publicly presents it to the chosen person. A member earning the coin in this manner must be wearing her/his nametag.
Happy/Sad Dollars: Any member or guest attending the meeting may make a happy or sad dollar announcement after placing $1.00 into the club treasury. This money is donated to a charitable cause recommended by the serving president and approved by the Kiwanis Board. ATTENDANCE "With You, We Can."
Attendance at the weekly meetings is not mandatory; however, members are encouraged to attend and expected to participate in the service projects performed by the club. In order to achieve perfect attendance recognition, a member must attend as many meetings as there are Thursdays in the month. Make up attendance credits are earned by attending any Board Meeting, Interclub, or other Kiwanis activity.
